Preheater with WIL combustion chamber (WCC)
The preheater and precalciner offered by WIL are based on the world renowned Reciprocating Suspension Preheater (RSP) precalcination technology absorbed during the technical collaboration of 23 years with M/s. Onoda Engineering, Japan (Now known as Taiheyo Engineering Co.)
WIL has successfully engineered, supplied and commissioned 48 such installations of various capacities and gained ample experience in engineering and execution of pyro section with capacities up to 6,000 TPD, incorporating the WCC precalciner that has all the features of any world class preheater / precalciner system.
For Cement plants with greater capacities (above 5000 TPD), we have active association with M/s A-TEC, Austria for the most modern design of preheater with low pressure cyclones and low heat consumption. A-TEC has specialized knowledge in designing by-pass system for chlorine, alkalis and sulphur and in offering systems for using non-conventional fuels such as municipal waste, rise husk, wood chips, used rubber tyres etc.
Key features of WCC are;
i) Firing of coal in oxygen rich air from cooler.
ii) Easy adoptability for using alternative fuels.
iii) Lower NOx/SOx emissions.
iv) Low pressure cyclones
v) High collection efficiency of top stage cyclones
vi) Complete combustion in the calciner
vii) High degree of precalcination at the kiln inlet.
As a result WIL offers performance guarantees for heat consumption and specific power consumption at par with any other international pyro system.
Rotary Kiln system design is based on original technology absorbed during our 10 year long technical collaboration with M/s Polysius, Germany (1969-1979) that is continuously upgraded by adopting latest features. Largest size supplied by WIL is of 5.0 m dia x 80 m long to P.T.Semen, Padang, Indonesia. WIL can design and manufacture rotary kilns upto 6 M dia.
The specific features are
i) Efficient pneumatic inlet seal
ii) Modern graphite block or Lamella type outlet seal
iii) Hydraulic thruster for adjusting the kiln position
iv) Modern multi channel coal burner for efficient combustion of coal
v) Two support Rotary Kiln.
Total installations of Rotary Kilns by WIL are 48 in India and abroad.
Reciprocating Grate Cooler
The grate cooler that was originally based on the design received from M/s. Polysius, Germany during the collaboration from 1969 to 1979 is continuously upgraded. We have developed our own static inclined grate Walchand Clinker Distribution System (WCDS) technology for improving heat recuperation efficiency of the cooler. The grate cooler is also equipped with improved low spillage grate plates to minimize the leakage of false air and minimizing wear of the grate plates.
Apart from our own design we have understanding with M/s Claudius Peters, Germany and M/S IKN, Germany to supply modern coolers for cement plants with capacities above 5000 TPD on case to case basis.

i) Better recuperation efficiency
ii) Reduced under grate spillage
iii) Lower wear of grate plates
iv) Low excess air for cooling
v) Lower specific power consumption.
